The Killers - Background information

The Killers was formed in 2001 and were established as an American Rock band.  The band has 4 members, whichare all from Nevada, Laz Vegas; Brandon Flowers (lead singer and keyborads), Dave Keuning (guitar and backing vocals), Mark Storemer (bass guitar and backing vocals), Ronnie Vannucci Jr (drums).  The band are influenced from 80's music styles and bands such as Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins and The Beatles.  The first debut album, Hot Fuss was relesed in 2004, after Mr Brightside was played on the radio in 2003 and gained alot of attention.  The bands first album was very sucessful.  Their second album Sams's Town was released in 2006 followed by two more albums, one in 2007 and one in 2008.  The band have sold over 5million albums in America and over 4.5million in the UK and many more world wide.  Brandon Flowers was quoted saying the Sam's Town will be - "one of the best albums people would remember 20 years from now".  However the album recieved mixed responses, but still sold 706,000 copies in the first week of release.  There were many memerable songs from the album, such as our chosen song - Read My Mind, Bones and When You Were Young.   The bands sucsess has grown and grown and they have won 4 NME awards, best international band for 3 years, best video (for Bones), they have also been nominated for 7 Grammy awards and in 2006 they won a BRIT award for the best international band and Sam's Town won best international album.  The Killers are a classic Indie/Rock band, who produce great, memorable songs (Mr Brightside is a classic Indie song which nearly everyone in the world loves!) and they have got millions of fans across the world.
